The Culver School Board got some more details about how recently-awarded grant funds will be spent. The school corporation was awarded a Secured School Safety matching grant for $23,761 from the state.
Culver Elementary School principal Erin Proskey told the board that money will be used to make the entrances to the Middle/High School Building more secure. Under the plan, new doors will be installed that will require visitors entering the building during school hours to first pass through the main office before continuing into the building. School officials hope to use proceeds from the corporation’s upcoming bond refunding to pay for its share in the project.
The school board has not yet voted whether or not to formally accept the grant. That’s expected to take place at an upcoming meeting.
