One Ancilla College student is getting a financial boost from the Independent Colleges of Indiana.
The organization, which represents 31 non-profit colleges in the Hoosier State, conducts fundraising, research, and grant administration for its members. For the past 25 years, however, the ICI has been distributing its scholarships through its “Realizing the Dream” program.
This year, Sandra Harlamert, an Ancilla College student from North Judson was one of the recipients. She studies nursing at the two-year liberal arts school. A $2,500 scholarship will be given to her at a ceremony in Indianapolis Saturday evening.
The scholarship funds are aided in part from the Lilly Endowment to the independent colleges organization. According to a press release from Ancilla College, the banquet recognizes first-generation students attending ICI campuses.
The scholarship will help the student with college costs. In addition, the mentor nominating the student will receive a $1,000 professional development grant.
