Ancilla College Speakers Explore Peace and Resistance, Thursday

Ancilla College NEWAncilla College will be exploring exactly what it means to advocate for peace during a series of lectures taking place, Thursday evening.

As part of its Lampen Lecture Series, the two-year liberal arts college has invited a couple of prominent activists to explore topics related to non-violence, resistance, and protest. The school is calling the event “Breaking Every Chain.”

Kathy Kelly is Co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence. The organization’s focus is to end what they consider U.S. Military and economic warfare. According to their website, the group has focused its efforts combating what it considers injustice against the Republic of Iraq. During her lecture at Ancilla College Kelly will be discussing their efforts as well as methods used to incorporation non-violent resistance in local communities.

The Lampen Lecture Series has also invited Bradford Lyttle, considered both a pacifist and an activist. Apart from lecturing on non-violent resistance, Lyttle has also participating in major peace walks over the decades with a focus on nuclear proliferation.

Tonight’s lectures will take place at Cana Hall at the Ancilla College Campus in Donaldson from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. EST.
