The Plymouth High School Marching Band heads to the Semi-State competition tomorrow.
The “Pride of Plymouth” qualified after earning a gold rating and a distinction for outstanding effect at the Indiana State School Music Association’s Regional contest on October 17. Band director Bryan Ames said in a statement the band’s had an outstanding season, in spite of having to train nearly 40 new members and having shorter class periods in which to practice.
This year’s show, called “Wired,” was inspired by electricity and power grids. It includes everything for which you call electricians now; props representing lightning bolts, as well as power line towers stretching across the football field. The high point of the show is a performance of “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath, when all the band members’ uniforms light up.
The semi-state contest will be held tomorrow at Pike High School in Indianapolis. Plymouth is scheduled to perform at 4:15 p.m.
