The Plymouth Common Council approved a grant request Monday to help a local building owner make some improvements.
The commercial revitalization rebate program grant will provide money to help the owners of 101 N. Michigan Street, The Very Nice People, LLC, make improvements to the building’s exterior, including work on the limestone on the building’s roof, as well as tuck pointing and brick replacement. The grant will cover up to 20 percent of the $4,200 cost of labor and materials.
Also during Monday’s meeting, the council established a dedicated fund for money received from a DNR grant. The $50,000 grant from the DNR’s Lake and River enhancement program will help the city’s Park and Recreation Department stabilize a section of the banks of the Yellow River, where erosion caused in part by heavy rains had damaged the Greenway.
