The Indiana Department of Transportation and the Road Construction Awareness Corporation are teaming up in the name of highway safety. They’re adding new signs at entry points to the state and major interstate construction projects reminding motorists to “Slow Down, Save A Life” because “We’re All in This Together.”
RCAC plans to have 16 signs installed statewide by next year. They also intend to grow the campaign by installing smaller versions of the sign on industry vehicles. Magnetic signs will be placed on the tailgates of INDOT, contractor and supplier company vehicles throughout the state. All expenses associated with the safety program are funded by donations to the RCAC.
The Road Construction Awareness Corporation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the transportation construction industry and general public with information to approve motorist, worker and pedestrian safety in work zones. The group was founded by highway workers mourning the loss of two coworkers killed in a work zone crash on Interstate 69 last year. The organization’s motto is “We’re All In This Together.” Find more information online www.roadconstructionawarenesscorp.com.
