Plymouth officials will celebrate the completion of Phase 1 of Freedom Park this evening. A grand opening ribbon cutting is scheduled at 5 p.m. at Packard Woods.
The all-inclusive playground includes a large play structure to accommodate patrons of all abilities. Phase 1 also includes a few other pieces of playground equipment and a Zero-G Chair. It’s a high-back swing that allows children who require extra support to play alongside their peers.
The Freedom Park Committee and Plymouth Parks Department have been working on the all-inclusive playground project for several years. The project was broken into three phases. The second and third will include a splash pad and sensory garden. Fundraising efforts are underway and include the sale of commemorative bricks that will be used to help build the entrance to the playground.
