Plymouth officials will celebrate the completion of a significant infrastructure project this evening.
In May they broke ground on a $2.5 million runway improvement project at the Plymouth Municipal Airport. It widened the surface to 75 feet, reconstructed and rehabilitated the existing surface, rebuilt the taxiways and improved the runway lighting system.
Most of the project was funded by a $2.2 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration. The Indiana Department of Transportation Office of Aviation and City of Plymouth made up the difference.
A 6 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled. Members of the public are invited to attend.
