Plymouth Council Adds Teeth to Parking Enforcement

Repeat City of Plymouth parking ordinance violators will now be subject to hefty fines and possible vehicle impoundment. The common council last night passed an ordinance on second and third reading to increase the fine for a third offense in 30 days or less from $50 to $100.

That penalty resets after 30 days. Officials hope that will be enough to compel compliance with posted parking restrictions. Additionally the Plymouth Police Department now has the authority to impound vehicles when the owner has two unpaid parking tickets and incurs a third. If that happens, the vehicle will not be released until all tickets and impound fees are paid.
