The Third Annual Marshall County Blazin’ BBQ & Bluegrass festival continues today.
Cori Humes, one of the event’s organizers, says 28 teams of barbecuers will be taking part, “They are competing in four meat categories, so chicken, ribs, brisket, and pork. They’re coming from across the Midwest and across the nation, and they will be judged on Saturday from judges from across the nation that are Kansas City Barbeque Society certified. They’re certified judges, all 100 percent.”
But it won’t be all barbeque. She says there will also be plenty of entertainment throughout the day, “From 11:00 – 12:00 on the stage, we’ll have – they were there last year they were a favorite – is the Stampede String Band, and from 1:00 – 2:00 Chad Van Herk will be on hand on the stage. A lot of us are familiar with our local favorite from Culver. He’ll be on hand to do some entertainment. Of course, the square dancing will be there as well in the horse barn.”
Blazin’ BBQ & Bluegrass runs until 6:00 p.m. The free festival is at Centennial Park in Plymouth.
