A Micigan-based sporting goods store chain will soon be moving into the former Kmart location in Plymouth.
Building inspector Keith Hammonds told the city’s board of works last night MC Sports is renovating the former retail space in the Pilgrim Place Shopping Center. They will occupy one-third of the building. Tenants have not yet been announced for the rest. The building has been vacant since late April when Kmart closed its doors. Hammonds did not offer a timeline for the new retail store to open.
MC Sports was founded in 1946 in Grand Rapids, Mich. The company now operates 74 stores in seven states throughout the Midwest, including locations in Goshen, Michigan City and Highland, Ind.. According to the company’s website, the retailer also gives back to their community through team sponsorships, fund raising programs, team and group discounts and a long-standing commitment to the Children’s Miracle Network.
