The Indiana Department of Insurance is offering advice to parents with students leaving for college.
August 24th is the date a good percentage of students head to campus for the fall. The Department of Insurance says many families are focused on ensuring adequate supplies are in place prior to the move, but it is equally important to provide adequate insurance coverage.
Auto insurance, renter’s insurance, health insurance, have all been listed as reasonable accommodations to help students with their transition. IDOI says ensuring the student understands the terms of the policies are also important.
Topics such as what is covered under a renter’s insurance policy, and what it means to receive out of network healthcare treatment are key to ensuring affordability. According to a press release, students should also have relevant insurance cards for their policies.
