Just in time for LakeFest, the Culver Union Township Public Library has switched out the book on its StoryWalk. Visitors to the lakefront are invited to start reading their way through the town park at the pedestrian walk on Lake Maxinkuckee at the end of Washington Street. The latest book is “The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog.”
The StoryWalk was unveiled last month during the library’s centennial celebration. Each post holds two laminated pages, so a book can’t have more than 30. Size is also a consideration, as copyright laws prohibit the library from shrinking pages without permission from the author.
Library Youth Services Director Jill Gavlick hopes the StoryWalk will encourage families to get step away from the television and computer screen, get outside, take a walk and get the imagination going.
