Arrest Made in Mailbox Explosion Case

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department began investigating a report of a loud explosive device on Sunday after receiving several calls.

According to information released by the Sheriff’s Department, the device had been placed in a mailbox in the 11-thousand block of South Michigan Road in Plymouth. The explosion destroyed the mailbox around 8:30 p.m. Marshall County says they typically have at least one report of a destroyed mailbox per year.

An investigation with neighbors and observers led to a description of the suspect vehicle.

Using the information obtained, an arrest was made on Monday when 36-year-old Nicholas Hundt was charged with Possession of a Destructive Device. 47-year-old Timothy Bules was also charged in the incident. Both men are from Plymouth.

The charging information has been forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s office for further consideration.
