As a part of the annual festival this year, Culver Lake Fest is commemorating the Culver-Union Township Public Library’s centennial by making the theme of this year’s parade ‘100 years of Reading’. The parade is scheduled to commence on Saturday morning but there’s plenty to do prior to that.
Today commercial and informational booths will be open and food, games, arts and crafts will be available from 4 until 10 pm. On site registration for the stand up paddle boat, canoe and kayak poker run is at 5:30 pm. The launch itself will happen at 6 pm on the beach by the lighthouse. The Miss Maxinkuckee Pageant is also scheduled for 6 o’clock and will be in the West Pavilion. The crowning is set for 8 pm. Register for karaoke in the information booth by 7 pm if you wish to perform in the West Pavilion sometime between 7 and 8 pm. A corn hole toss contest sponsored by the Culver Fire Department is at the basketball court at 7pm. At 8 pm and awards ceremony for the SUP, Canoe and Kayak Poker Run will be held. The awards are sponsored by the Lake Maxinkuckee Environmental Council and The Lake Maxinkuckee Association.
Tomorrow the Culver Lion’s Club is hosting a pancake and sausage breakfast at the train depot from 7 until 9:30 am. From 9 am until 11 pm the informational and commercial booths will be open and games, food, arts and crafts will be available. Parade registration starts at 9 am on the corner of Slate and College and ends at 10 am. The 32nd annual Culver Lake Fest Parade will start at 10 am. The Culver Library is collectively serving as the parade marshal. The parade starts in the downtown shopping district and ends at The Original Root Beer Stand. Awards will be presented at the information booth an hour after the parade ends. Saturday evening will end with a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Maxinkuckee at 10 pm.
