One Killed in Monday Night Crash, Investigation Ongoing

A man was killed on Monday night in Marshall County after authorities say he walked into the street.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call that someone was struck by a vehicle.

According to a press release, 27-year-old Herminia Rayn of Argos was driving west on 12B road. An investigation has led officers to believe that 56-year-old John Doll, also of Argos, was either standing or walking into the roadway when he was allegedly struck.

According to officers, Rayn said it was too late to avoid the collision by the time she noticed Doll in the road. Doll’s body was found just off the side of the roadway.

Information released by authorities suggests that Doll may have used controlled substances prior to the incident. That may also explain why he was in the road at the time of the accident.

An investigation is ongoing.
