Finances Discussed During Culver Schools Board of Trustees Meeting

Various financial matters were among the items discussed during Monday evening’s Culver School board meeting. The last pay day for the 2014/15 school year is July 31. The new fiscal year begins August 1rst and the first pay day for staff is August 14th.

The school received a $500 donation from the local VFW Post 6919 for students attending nationals in Anaheim, California.

Changes to the Title 1 Grant were also discussed at length by Julie Berndt, director of curriculum development. The Title 1 Grant is aimed at improving the academic achievement of the disadvantaged. The amount awarded is decided by factors such as enrollment and the number of students receiving free or reduced meals. This year Culver should receive approximately $219,846 which is a decrease of about $37,566 from last year.

There is a Department of Education audit is scheduled for the 2015/16 school year, the treasurer and members of the staff and board are preparing accordingly.
