Two Vehicle Accident Slows Traffic on U.S. 31

An accident on U.S. 31 at 9A east of Plymouth stopped traffic for a period on Thursday.

Marshall County, Plymouth Fire, and Plymouth EMS were called to the scene of the two vehicle accident around 12:20 p.m. on Thursday.

According to officials with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, a semi-tractor trailer, driven by 46-year-old Kevin Demers, pulled into oncoming traffic. It was subsequently struck by an SUV driven by Jerry Secrist.

Only minor injuries were reported. The vehicles weren’t so lucky. Heavy damage was incurred to both the semi and the SUV according to the Sheriff’s Department. Clean-up of the site took a couple of hours, stalling traffic along the roadway.

Secrist was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. According to officials with the hospital, he has since been released.

A traffic violation was issued for Demers. Law enforcement also found that Demers had an outstanding warrant for check deception. He was arrested and booked at the Marshall County Jail.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
