Plymouth Common Council to Revisit Bond Refinancing Tonight

The Plymouth Common Council could give final approval to a pair of bond-funded projects when they meet this evening. Specifically city officials want to issue water works bonds to make improvements to the municipal water system. They’re also looking to refinance the sewer bonds issued in 2008 in order to save some money.

Other agenda items include consideration of resolutions to establish tax increment financing districts for the areas of U.S. 30 and Oak and Pine Roads. TIF districts allow public financing of infrastructure projects in hopes of attracting private sector investment. A public hearing on additional appropriations is also scheduled.

The council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. or immediately following the city board of public works and safety meeting. It begins at 6. Agenda items include the opening of bids for the water treatment plant project and a review of an engineering service contract for the wastewater treatment plant improvements. The board will also consider a proposal to close a portion of Garro Street for work at the Marshall County Museum.
