The Culver Board of Education has accepted a couple of donations.
During last night’s School Board meeting, a donation was received from the Culver Kiwanis Club for $800. The funds will be donated for Culver High School’s Business Professionals of America Club.
The group qualified several students for a national competition to be held in California. School Board Vice President Jim Wentzel says he knows the students appreciate the donations.
“That’s great,” says Wentzel. “And the thing about this is now these kids growing up, they’re going to be the leaders of these organizations one of these days so them seeing what they’re getting, hopefully one day they’ll be able to return the favor.”
The BPA club has already raised about $8-thousand, but is still in need of an additional $6-thousand in order to make the trip. The national competition is in May of this year.
A separate donation was received from Trinity Lutheran Church to be put toward upgrading the High School Audio/Video system in the auditorium. Donations are made periodically to that project as well.
The Culver School Board, last night, also considered summer school and activity calendars for the coming months.
No action was taken on the item.
