Starke County Prosecutor Reminding Residents of Motor Driven Cycle Changes

The Starke County Prosecutor’s Office is reminding residents of a law change that went into effect on January 1st of this year.

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles says the changes create three classes for motor driven vehicles. Among them are: motorcycles, Class A motor driven cycles, and Class B motor driven cycles.

Each of the classes has their own endorsement and insurance requirements according to the state. Registering the vehicles is designed to make it easier for law enforcement to track down stolen vehicles.

Class B motor drive cycle endorsements require that the driver be 15 years of age of older and may not be operated at more than 35 miles per hour.

The Starke County Prosecutors office says that residents should familiarize themselves with the changes to prevent being cited for traffic violations.
