New Prairie High School in LaPorte County went on lockdown again this morning, and for a similar reason.
According to information released by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, administrators at the school said a bullet had been found in their building. The building was placed on lockdown around 9:15 a.m.
This is not the first time such an incident has happened at New Prairie High School.
Staff at the school began an immediate search of the lockers with the Sheriff’s Department assisting with the common areas. No additional bullets or weapons were found.
Authorities say the bullet was a single 9mm round and was found by a student in one of the men’s bathrooms at the High School. The lock down was lifted after a little more than one hour.
An investigation is ongoing, but the detectives say they are currently short on leads. The Sheriff’s Department says they will continue to have a presence in the area.
