Students unable to travel for the spring break vacation will have a chance at some fun in Plymouth.
The Marshall County Museum says they are hosting a Spring Break Special. Current exhibits involving model trains will be accompanied by games today between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Community Relations Director Mindy Langdon says the exhibit is a big draw for the museum.
“For the most part, for the general public, it’s just going to be tours of the museum, trains running, games happening,” says Langdon.
Tours of the museum will be hosted for students visiting the museum.
The event being hosted today is also acting as a meeting for the museum’s “Conductors Club” – which will be touring the train room at the Marshall County Museum. Among the items that may be unveiled is a “Superheroes” train. The museum attempts to introduce different themes into their train room for those interested.
Langdon says they’ve had success in the past with the event.
“It seems to be a real popular thing for kids that are still here on spring break for them to just get out and enjoy themselves and maybe have lunch afterwards,” says Langdon.
The museum will also be honoring the travel of a replica train that carried Abraham Lincoln from Washington D.C. to Springfield, Illinois for his funeral.
Different themes run in the Marshall County museum’s train room throughout the year.
