Join the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Foundation for a special ceremony today commemorating the Otis R. Bowen, M.D. Fund. Officials will unveil a plaque honoring his generous gifts to the Poor Handmaids and their ministries at The Center at Donaldson. Doc Bowen resided at the Catherine Kasper Life Center until his death in May of 2013.
The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Foundation created the Otis R. Bowen, M.D. Fund to commemorate Dr. Bowen’s outstanding years of public service and his service to the Poor Handmaids and the ministries at The Center at Donaldson. Dr. Bowen also served as honorary chairman of the foundation’s campaign to build assisted living and a college residence hall.
Dr. Bowen, an Emeritus member of the Ancilla College Board of Trustees, shared his vision and enthusiasm in a letter, stating: “It is very exciting for me to imagine the various levels of interaction that students and adults from different walks of life will have as the Catherine Kasper Life Center continues to develop programs and opportunities in the coming years. I encourage old and new friends of the Poor Handmaids, residents and family members of The Center, parents and alumni of Ancilla College and members of the public to support them with their time, talent and financial resources.”
Contributions to the Fund will be used to support assisted living or the college residence hall, depending upon the preference of the donor. The ceremony begins at 3 p.m. EST. The public is welcome to attend, but is asked to RSVP by calling Terry Sanders at 574-935-1737 or by emailing tsanders@phjcfoundation.org.
