Marshall County Community Foundation Awards Grants for State Bicentennial

The Marshall County Community Foundation has announced grant fund awards for a special grant round to recognize organizations who are putting efforts into the state’s official 200th birthday celebration.

The projects and programs eligible reflect upon 200 years of progress with genuine pride. This special round of grants allowed organizations to apply for up to $10,000 from the Marshall County Community Foundation’s Community Fund. The fund distributes more than $180,000 to support special project and programs across Marshall County.

Bremen OktoberFest, Inc. was awarded $2,000 to fund a year of community activities to celebrate history, culture and environment. The Marshall County Community Orchestra was given $400 to purchase music for the “Celebrations at Lincoln Center” concert, educating the audience about the history of Indiana through writings and music. The Marshall County Historical Society will use $618 for placemats to be printed and distributed in the county to bring awareness of the bicentennial year.

A musical review honoring Cole Porter will be put together by the Encore Performing Arts and a $2,000 grant will help the members accomplish that. The Potawatomi Wildlife Park will use $2,000 to design and purchase custom signage to interpret various historic and natural features. Wythougan Valley Preservation Council, Inc. will list all of the eligible districts in Marshall County to the National Register of Historic Places with the $2,000 grant awarded to them.
