A Breman woman is dead after a one-car crash on U.S. 6 in Marshall County. It happened around 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26. Mary E. Durlin, 62, was eastbound on 6 just east of Rose Road and struck a deer, according to authorities. She swerved, ran off the road and hit a large pine tree.
Durlin was pronounced dead at the crash site of blunt force trauma. Toxicology test results are pending. Her two grandchildren were in car seats in the back of the vehicle. Neither were injured but both were taken to the trauma center Memorial Hospital in South Bend since they were passengers in a vehicle in which someone was killed.
