A man was arrested after allegedly battering a pregnant woman and a child.
On Wednesday night, Marshall County deputies were called to a home in the 13,000 block of State Road 17 where they found that the victim had fled the residence. The suspect, Jason Phillips, had also left the residence prior to the officer’s arrival. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.
During the course of the investigation, police discovered that a young boy was also battered. Police were able to locate Phillips in Rochester and with the help of the Rochester Police Department he was taken into custody on Thursday.
Phillips was booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of domestic battery in the presence of a child, battery on a pregnant woman resulting in bodily injury and neglect of a dependent. He is in the jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
In a separate incident, a Marshall County woman was arrested on Thursday after a domestic issue was reported at a home in the 11,000 block of Redwood Road. A Marshall County deputy responded to disturbance and found that a man sustained injury as a result of an altercation with Kirsten Lawmaster.
Lawmaster was arrested on a preliminary charge of domestic battery. She is the Marshall County Jail on a $3,000 cash bond.
