Those using Michigan Road to travel between the LaPaz and Plymouth areas will need to find another route starting later this week. Michigan Road will be closed just south of U.S. 6 for several months, starting at 8 a.m. Friday.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, crews will be demolishing the Michigan Road Bridge at old U.S. 31 and replacing it with a grade-level road. INDOT’s official detour sends southbound drivers east on U.S. 6, south on U.S. 31, and west on U.S. 30, while northbound drivers will do the reverse.
Michigan Road is expected to reopen in early July.
